Rabbi's Message

New Women's Initiative @ South Head

Dear <~~First~~>,

It gives me great pleasure to announce a new series of talks to be given by Rebbetzen Henya exclusively for women.

The series is dedicated to the memory of Rebbetzen Rivkah Holzberg who was brutally murdered with her husband and others in Mumbai's Chabad House. Called Rivkah's Tent, it is an initiation of the Rosh Chodesh Society, the new women's branch of the Jewish Learning Institute.

The lessons place particular emphasis on the feminine within Judaism, combining intellectual and emotional aspects.

Rebbetzen Henya gave a pilot talk in January called "Kneading Faith". Centred on the mitzvah of Challah, it was received to acclaim by all participants. The new class, Still Life with Candles at Friday Dusk is to be held on Tuesday evening March 16. It is open to all women, but places are strictly limited. Please book with Helen on 9371 7300 ext 4 or email as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

With best wishes for a Good Shabbos

On behalf of the Rebbetzen and all of us at South Head,

Rabbi Benzion Milecki OAM

Hey there everyone!

South Head Youth welcomed 35 children for Birthday Shabbat and 70 children for Bless the Kids Shabbat last week.
_____

This Monday:  Bake your own Matzah at South Head’s model Matzah bakery. Watch a Pesach show and make your own Arts and crafts. Monday March 8th 4:00-5:00 PM. $10 child / adults free Bookings essential!

Have you ever seen a gigantic balloon? Or been INSIDE a bubble? Well, you would have if you were one of the 250 children who celebrated Purim at our Out of this World Bubble Show!
The Purim mime video during Megilla reading was a hit with the children as they each received a Mishloach Manot and a Gragger.

What better way to celebrate Purim is there than to bring joy to the elderly in our community? South Head Youth visited Rose Bay and Vaucluse Nursing Homes to deliver Mishloach Manot and clown cards, and to spread the Simcha of Purim with our favorite songs.

___

South Head Youth Leaders visited Moriah College Primary for the Purim Assembely and were well received by the hundreds of children who recognized them in their astronaut costumes.

Good Shabbos from Rabbi Yossi, Rivky and Mushka Shuchat.

Friday the Rabbi Laughed!

A rabbi told his congregation, "Next week I plan to give a sermon about lying. To help you understand my speech, I want you all to read Exodus chapter 41."

The following Sabbath, as he prepared to deliver his sermon, the rabbi asked for a show of hands. He wanted to know how many had read Exodus 41. Everyone’s hands went up.

The rabbi smiled and said, "Exodus has only 40 chapters. I will now proceed with my sermon about lying."
