Getting to Know Myself

Dear <~~First~~>,
We had a fantastic first week of JLI with eighty five participants between Monday evening and Wednesday morning sessions. I was especially heartened by the level of interaction during the class and in the comments received afterwards.
One of the subjects discussed during the class was "Who are we? What is the essential core of our being?"
Interestingly, an allusion to this can be found in this week's parasha in G-d's first conversation with Abraham: "And G-d said to Avram, 'Go you forth, from your land, your birthplace and your father's house to the land that I will show you." On the surface of it, this verse is strange. When leaving you first exit your father's house, then your birthplace and only finally your land. Why is the verse written in the reverse?
There are of course a number of answers to this question. However to keep the accompanying podcast to the desired seven minutes, I have edited the audio to include only the deeply insightful Kabbalistic response. To hear it and get a glimpse of what your essence might be, please click here.
With best wishes for a Good Shabbos.
On behalf of the Rebbetzen and all of us at South Head
