Rabbi's Message

The Highs and Lows of Life

Dear <~~First~~>,

On behalf of our entire community, I extend a very warm welcome to the members of the internationally acclaimed Celebration 60 who will be gracing our service this Shabbos. Shalom Aleichem! We look forward to an uplifting and inspiring Shabbos. The Alter Rebbe - Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi - said that music is the pen of the heart. May the song that goes forth from your hearts enter into ours and remain there writ in large letters where we will fondly remember its soulful depth and enthusiasm for many years to come.

At times we feel on top of the world, at others, at its depth. The story of Hashem's appearance to Abraham gives us direction no matter what station we are at in the journey of life. To hear how, please click here for a five minute insight.

Abraham was the first Jew to whom G-d appeared. But did you know that he once stood up Hashem and kept Him cooling His heels? If you have a little more time and would like to hear a shiur on the great mitzvah of Hachnasat Orchim - hosting guests - click here. This shiur is twelve minutes.

With best wishes for a Good Shabbos.

On behalf of the Rebbetzen and all of us at South Head

Rabbi Benzion Milecki OAM

Good Shabbos from Rabbi Yossi and Rivky Shuchat

Friday the Rabbi Laughed!

Friendly Boasting

An American, an Englishman and an Israeli are indulging in a bit of boasting.

The American says, "One of my ancestors signed the Declaration of Independence."

The Englishman says, "That's nothing. One of my ancestors was present at the signing of the Magna Carta."

The Israeli quietly says, "You think that’s something? One of my ancestors drew up the Ten Commandments."
