Graduation BBQ & Debate
South Head Synagogue completed its first year of Jewish Learning Institute courses with a hugely successful Graduation Dinner on Monday evening July 7th.
Over 90 graduates and their spouses enjoyed a fabulous BBQ and participated in spirited debates on issues studied during the courses which are part of the world-wide Jewish Learning Institute comprising 250 centres around the world. Topics included whether to tick "yes" on the organ donation box on our Drivers Licence; whether the pregnant 11 year-old Romanian rape victime should have an abortion, and whether it's OK to tell your wife that you are going to the football when you are really going to a shiur.

- Barry Perczuk, "I was particularly impressed with your handling and depth of knowledge relating to various issues an concepts. I feel privileged to be part of your class"

The JLI Courses have seen tremendous growth in people's desire to learn in an interactive environment as Rabbi Milecki says, "Each course attracted more participants than the previous one - demonstrating loud and clear the deep-seated interest that exists within our community for in-depth Jewish knowledge."
