Shabbat HaChodesh - Mevorchim - Vayakhel Pekudei
I would like to share with you something truly beautiful that the Rebbetzen and I (and others in the Jewish community) experienced this week. Some twenty years ago, we met Angelina and her husband. They had just arrived in Australia after fleeing from their homeland. They understood that there was no future, and certainly no Jewish future, in their country of birth. They wanted to come to a country where they would be free to live as Jews, and free to bring up their children as Jews.
Angelina came here without family or friends, but worse of all, with no real prospect of ever seeing her family again. She would never be able to return to her homeland, and there was no chance of her parents coming here.
They were however warmly embraced by our local Jewish community. Soon they were also blessed with two sons (the Pidyon HaBen of the oldest, Shimon, was in our home) and slowly struck roots here. Still, the prospect of seeing her parents seemed like a distant dream.
Recently Shimon went to study in Israel, and on a regular basis went to the Kotel to pray for the unification of his long divided family - and especially to see his grandparents.
And, as his parents and grandparents say, his prayers were answered.
This week, Angelina was reunited with her parents, and her parents saw their grandchildren for the first time! It is as Jacob said to Joseph after not seeing him for twenty two years: "I didn't imagine ever seeing your face again, and behold G-d has shown me your children!" What a beautiful and happy ending to the joyous month of Adar!

In view of the unstable state of the entire world at this time, I urge everyone to recite the following prayers, which according to the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, of blessed memory, have the ability to steady a shaky world
At the beginning of the day, the following should be recited:
Behold I accept upon myself the positive commandment, "You shall love your neighbour as yourself."
One should say these next verses after one's prayers every day. Or if, for some reason one doesn't pray, then at least these verses should be recited:
Do not fear sudden terror, nor the destruction of the wicked when it comes. Contrive a scheme, but it will be foiled; conspire a plot, but it will not materialize, for G-d is with us. To your old age I am [with you]; to your hoary years I will sustain you; I have made you, and I will carry you; I will sustain you and deliver you. Indeed, the righteous will extol Your Name; the upright will dwell securely in Your presence.
